Long Table 188. A Roman World of Imagery in Mesopotamia: The Coins of Mannos Philorhomaios
Sven Günther (Institute for the History of Ancient Civilizations, Northeast Normal University) and Elisabeth Günther (Institute of Classical and Byzantine Archaeology, Heidelberg University) will discuss a curious group of silver drachms that closely resemble the iconography of Roman imperial coins. Presumably minted in the kingdom of Osrhoene around 165 CE, these exceptional pieces tell us about the production and reception of Roman-style coinage in Mesopotamia, and how audiences were informed by their historical context as they were located between the Roman and the Persian Empires during the Parthian War of Lucius Verus.

The typology also p...

In my opinion, counterfeit money or coin is the currency of choice of criminals such as drug dealers, gamblers, slave traders etc. Historically and currently, the white Slavic trade was and is very active in Ukraine and Moldavia. In my opinion, the hoards of counterfeit coins found in Ukraine and Moldavia belonged to slave traders.

Before the german unification we have monetary system like in the United Kingdom: there are 12 Pfennig to 1 Silver-Groschen and 30 Silver-Groschen to 1 Thaler. Then Bismarck create the Mark-System of 100 Pfennig to 1 Mark in 1873/74. Greetings from Germany!

American Coin scholars should pay attention to the significance of this man’s presentation. P. Scott Rubin has broken the doors open to the lost history of Joseph Wright. Because so few coin enthusiasts do not grasp what this man’s research is saying in historical significance with so few viewers and thumbs up, I’ll say it! Mr. Rubin, you have a million applauses from me. Allow me to let the cat out of the bag! Lady liberty, Patience Wright is engraved with the liberty pole and cap! Which is the symbol for the Deposed Stuart kings and not a symbol of the United States at all! Patience and family prepared Joseph to be the artist of the founding fathers. Why? Wrights great grand father was King Charles II’s royal house hold painter of his Restoration Coronation! Wright was not just chosen, if his work was not to be the best, he would not have been the nations most significant artist planted for this job of art to piss off king George! Adding to the fact his teach besides Benjamin West was his brother law, king George’s Illegitimate son! Go figure that one coin scholars! History is always generally a big lie!
